the Welsh Horse yeomanry
Our main arena display is THE WELSH HORSE MUSICAL RIDE performed by eight troop horses.
Jerusalem is the drum horse, an eighteen hands Clydesdale the native heavy horse of Scotland, the only known drum horse in Britain outside the army.
The regimental mascots include Idris the goat and Taffy the Shetland Pony.
Most of our displays are set in the late Victorian era but we also perform displays set in any period from the Ancient Romans to the Second World War.
Arena displays include historical pageants and mounted skill at arms. We also perform a Living History display, SOLDIERS OF THE QUEEN, which lasts all day and depicts the daily routine of the Victorian Soldier. It can include pipers and highland dancers of the Strathspey Highlanders, who are part of our organisation.
